We've all been there. You sit down at your computer or open up your smartphone to post about something about your business, and...you can't think of anything to talk about. You get frustrated, so you don't post anything, and eventually, your whole social media strategy falls by the wayside. Don't worry; we get it. Most of the time, you're busy running your business, and social media is an afterthought. You can do some easy things, though, to give your social media structure and make your life a lot easier.
Decide What's Realistic: Social Media planning can be a little like going to the gym. You might tell yourself you're going to do it every day, but really, you're probably going to fizzle out quickly. Figuring out what a realistic cadence is for you to create content that's valuable to your followers and then stick to it. When it comes to social media posts, quality, not quantity, is what counts.
Establish a Framework for Content: Before you write your first post, decide on high-level content categories you want to post about every month. Let's say you're an automotive repair shop. Coming up with 20 posts a month without any structure can be difficult, but if you say you're going to do two posts on tires, one post on transmissions, three posts explaining the parts of a car, etc., etc. pretty soon you'll have a framework in place that makes coming up with ideas a lot easier.
Divide and Conquer: Chances are, you have a lot of smart people working for you, and they know all sorts of things that your customers are interested in. Make use of their talents and ask them to pitch in with brainstorming and copywriting. It might be a fun release for them to work on a social post and allow them to showcase their knowledge and creativity - especially if you have a lot of those kooky Millennials working for you. 😉 (Just kidding...we love the Takapa Millennials)
Social media planning can be intimidating, but when you decide what's realistic, create a framework, and ask everyone to pitch in, it gets significantly more manageable. For more social media tips and tricks, give us a call. We'd love to help you develop your strategy.
